Taste Honey and Mead from Oregon and Honeys from all over the world at the Sixth Annual Oregon Honey Festival! Watch how Honey bees work together to raise their families. Attendees learn the meaning of their sounds and dances and meet diverse Beekeepers including youth and elders from the Lakota Youth Beekeepers
who will share their unique understanding of Bees and
present their Honey for purchase.
Attendees learn about various kinds of Hives (they aren't all alike!), as well as Mead-making, various Therapies and Remedies derived from Hive Products and the Best Therapeutic Plants to keep Bees Healthy. Kids can see types of Bees in the Hive and get hands-on experience with putting together hive components. Various musicians perform throughout the day including Carla Bauer, Cher and Stan and
next-gen Musicians, The Information Jazz Club.
Understand how to source, order and keep your Bees with info from Beekeeper, Noah Clipp and Learn how to catch a Swarm in Style from Portland Urban Beekeeper’s Association President, Mandy Shaw and watch the National Geographic short film that made her famous!

2020 Amateur Honey Producer Competition
Between 1 - 2 PM, Amateur producers will bring a copy of their:
1. identification (which we may photocopy),
2. A $5.00 entry fee
3. A Standard 8 oz Queenline jar of honey
to the Oregon Honey Festival (Ticket Required) at 255 E. Main St., Ashland Elks Lodge, 2nd Floor.
The Beekeeper will confirm that the honey was:
1. Produced by bees for whom they were the primary beekeeper
2. Produced in Oregon (Identify the zip code of the Harvest Location)
3. Harvested between June 2019 and May 2020
4. Labled by the beekeeper according to convention established by the National Honey Board
5. The Beekeeper will provide a description of the likely floral source if known
Samples will receive a verbal description by Honey Tasting Experts

Our profits go to education, support of our Applied Environmental Sciences programs as well as conservation of Bees and other Pollinators. Kids eight and under can
attend free with a parent.

Sharon Schmidt is a beekeeper and the festival founder. She visits the studio, while JPR gets Amina Harris on the phone.
Dr. Harris is the director of the Honey and Pollination Center at the University of California-Davis.
